Becak

Becak is a tricycle vehicle.It is very familliar for Indonesian people and commonly used for short distance trip. This vehicle can bring two to three people. It is unique and full of wind, off course.It is simmilar but not exactly the same with rickshaw and historically becak was inspired by this chinese vehicle.

There are two kind of becak in term of power source to move becak:
1.Becak padle human powered.
Powering the padle like bicycle.

2.Motor powered becak. It is a modification of motorcycle.

Becak design.

In java becak is designed with driver sit behind the passenger while in sumatera the driver is designed to sit beside the passenger.Java desing seems more flexible in movement but less space. It is different with sumatera one where there is additional spare seat behind the dirver and more space for baggage at the rear of this design.

Why becak?

With recent various of vehicles such as taxi, minibus, city bus are available then why still use becak? There are some reason why becak is still used by the peoples;
1.Becak can bring you into front of your home's door. The small size of becak allow it to explore in narrow street.
2.Communication with the driver, using becak is simmilar with taksi where you can directly communicate and make agreement for your trip and even the cost.
3.Short classic tour, becak is a traditional vehicle and it is feel like a short city tour when you are riding it.
4.Cheap.
5.Friendly for environment especially for human power padling ones.
